Some Large Sites Winding Down Operations; Mobile Clinics and Other Sites Remain Plentiful throughout the Community

Santa Clara County, CA – Free, pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics remain available throughout Santa Clara County, with opportunities this week ranging from Gilroy to Mountain View. The County strongly urges everyone who is 12 and older who is not yet vaccinated to get the COVID-19 vaccine to help protect the community from the virus.

As community vaccination rates increase further, and COVID-19 case rates remain low, some larger vaccine sites are closing down operations. The mass vaccination clinic at the County Service Center on Berger Drive closed on Friday, June 11, and the County and the 49ers announced today that Levi’s® Stadium will conclude vaccination operations on June 24. The Gilroy High School site will close on July 8, as will the Mountain View Community Center at a future date to be determined. The large vaccination sites at Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose will both remain open both for vaccinations and COVID-19 testing.

“The COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States are proven to be safe and extremely effective against COVID-19,” said Dr. Marty Fenstersheib, COVID-19 Vaccine Officer for the County of Santa Clara. “The County has made the COVID-19 vaccine readily available and easy to access for anyone age 12 and older. We’re beyond thrilled that almost 80% of eligible people have received their first dose and hope the remaining people who have yet to get vaccinated take advantage of the free clinics that are located across the county.”

More than 79% of Santa Clara County residents over the age 12 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine and almost 70% have completed their vaccination. Santa Clara County has among the highest vaccination rates in the nation, but officials hope that more individuals will get vaccinated to further protect the community as the state reopens.

Vaccination sites throughout the county will continue to accept drop-ins for COVID-19 vaccines and same-day appointments are also available throughout the county. Visit sccfreevax.org for the latest information and updates.
