The data in this dashboard show information on the demographics and characteristics of COVID-19 cases and related deaths, including: age, gender, race/ethnicity, source of transmission for cases, and underlying conditions for deaths. One of the core areas of work in the Public Health Department is ensuring racial and health equity, understanding the social determinants of health, and how they impact health and health outcomes. Providing detailed demographic breakdowns enables Health Officers to determine appropriate actions to better prevent, control and slow the spread of COVID-19.
**This dashboard is updated every Friday.
As part of ongoing data quality efforts, data are updated as the County receives information that is more complete or accurate. Therefore, the number of cases and deaths may change as cases and deaths are added to or removed from total counts through this process. In addition, reporting delays and data validation may affect the number of new cases and deaths reported on a given day, leading to lower numbers of cases or deaths being reported on certain days and higher numbers on others.

Data notes: All cases without a known source of transmission are included in the Unknown/Presumed Community Transmission category, and may be changed as ongoing investigations yield additional information. The Other category for the race/ethnicity graph includes American Indian/Alaska Native and people who identify as multi-racial. COVID-19 deaths are defined as deaths in residents of Santa Clara County who were confirmed COVID cases, had COVID-19 listed as a cause of death or a significant condition contributing to death on the death certificate.
