Get Vaccinated: Drop-In and Appointment-Based Opportunities throughout Santa Clara County this Week

May 8, 2021

Outreach efforts continue to encourage teens and other eligible community members to get vaccinated

Santa Clara County, CA – The County of Santa Clara continues to offer broad opportunities for community members to get a free COVID-19 vaccine, with expanded hours on evenings and weekends and various pop-up sites throughout the county that do not require an appointment.

While more than 72 percent of Santa Clara County residents over the age of 16 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, teens and young adults have lower rates of vaccination to date, with those ages 16 to 29 making up the highest number of unvaccinated individuals in the county. Eighteen- to 34-year-olds have the highest rate of COVID infection of any age group.

As we approach school graduation events and the summer holiday season, it is vital for those who intend to attend gatherings and celebrations to do so in the safest manner possible for themselves and the community -- fully vaccinated.

Getting vaccinated saves lives, prevents the spread of dangerous variants, and helps the community emerge from the pandemic. The County’s outreach continues to focus on equity and getting vaccines to the hardest-hit communities and those with the greatest barriers to access.

“We have prioritized the lowest vaccinated census tracts for our mobile pop up clinics and door to door canvassing,” said Dr. Rocio Luna, Deputy County Executive for the County of Santa Clara. “Our mobile clinics have delivered more than 45,000 doses of vaccine at over 100 sites, and we’re also locating clinics at schools and offering incentives for youth to get vaccinated.”

There are multiple opportunities for all eligible community members to get vaccinated throughout Santa Clara County, including expanded drop-in clinics with evening and weekend hours, same-day appointments, and mobile and in-home vaccine clinics. Vaccination sites throughout the county will continue to accept drop-ins for COVID-19 vaccines in the coming week, and same-day appointments are also available throughout the county, including at Levi’s Stadium. Anyone age 16 and older who lives, works, or attends school in Santa Clara County is eligible for vaccination. Drop-in availability is subject to supply and capacity limitations.
