County of Santa Clara Releases New Data Dashboards for COVID-19 Cases, Test Positivity Rates, and Vaccination Information Sorted by Census Tract

Santa Clara County, CA – The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department has released new data dashboards with information about COVID-19 cases, testing and vaccinations sorted by Census Tract. The maps are available at https://covid19.sccgov.org/dashboard-data-by-census-tract-maps

These maps summarize cumulative COVID-19 case rates, cumulative COVID-19 testing rates, cumulative positivity rate, and cumulative vaccinations for people ages 65 and older by census tract.

Census tracts are relatively small neighborhoods or subdivisions in the county. These data – similar to previous breakdowns by city and ZIP code -- help provide a picture of how COVID-19 is affecting specific neighborhoods within the community.

These data reflect the ongoing need to focus COVID-19 response efforts in communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

“Racial and health equity are core priorities for Public Health. The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified inequitable conditions that existed pre-COVID, highlighting how deeply rooted systems that disadvantage communities of color lead to unequal access to housing, education, transportation and economic opportunities and contribute to unequal health outcomes,” said Dr. Sara Cody, Health Officer and Public Health Director for the County of Santa Clara. “This is why we have and must continue to work in partnership with communities hardest hit by COVID. This includes making vaccine available to focused neighborhoods in East San José and Gilroy.”

Among the County’s first large vaccination sites were locations in East San José and Gilroy. The County has also launched additional community-based and mobile vaccine clinics in those areas to ensure access to the vaccine for the county’s hardest hit communities.

The County’s website at sccfreevax.org provides information and links for making vaccine appointments with providers across the county. Certain locations are providing drop-in vaccine clinics, and community outreach efforts are expanding further to assist with vaccine appointment scheduling.
