COVID-19 Vaccine Inventory and Administration by Provider Dashboard

We will be suspending updates to the COVID-19 Vaccine Inventory and Administration by Provider Dashboard as of May 14, 2021. This dashboard is being suspended at this time because vaccine supply is now sufficient to meet demand. In addition, this will reduce reporting requirements for providers and enable them to focus on vaccine administration. The COVID-19 Vaccinations Among County Residents Dashboard will continue to be updated with information on vaccinations amongst residents of Santa Clara County.

Due to changes in the State’s vaccine allocation strategy, this dashboard will no longer be reporting vaccine received as first and second doses and will instead report total vaccine received.

Data Source: Provider reported to the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department pursuant to Health Officer Order.

Timing: The data are based on reports from the prior day by providers.

Number of Doses: The “Doses Received” columns represent the number of doses that have been received by vaccine providers in Santa Clara County, separated by first and second doses. The “Doses Administered” columns represent the number of doses given to people, separated by first and second doses. Vaccine providers are separately allocated second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine, both of which require two doses. The second doses allocated are directly proportionate to the first doses administered, and patients generally schedule their second dose at the time they receive their first dose.

Extra Doses: According to the FDA, extra doses may be obtained for these COVID-19 vaccines due to overfill of the multi-dose vials. As a result, total doses administered may exceed total doses received.

Self-reported Data: All data are self-reported from vaccine providers in Santa Clara County. If data are not reported on a specified reporting day, numbers from the previous day are used. “Failed to Report” means that no data have been reported by a provider as required by the Public Health Department. “Not Reported” means that data are not currently reported to the Public Health Department by the provider, and that the provider receives vaccine directly from the federal government and is therefore not subject to the Health Officer Order.

Source of Vaccine Allocation: “Source of Vaccine Allocation” indicates the level of government—federal, state, or county—that decides how much of available vaccine will be supplied to each vaccine provider over which they have jurisdiction. Federal healthcare organizations, like the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, are allocated vaccine directly by the federal government. Vaccine providers that operate in multiple counties, like Kaiser Permanente, are directly allocated vaccine by the State of California. Vaccine providers that operate only in Santa Clara County are allocated vaccine by the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department. The State of California determines the number of vaccines that are available for counties to allocate. Once allocated, vaccine is often shipped directly to vaccine providers by vaccine manufacturers.
